My wife and I recently adopted a new puppy and we’ve started walking her nightly in our neighborhood. With the time change earlier this month, I suddenly noticed more street lights that are out or dim on these walks. In 3 city blocks, I’ve reported 4 lights on the 311 App on my phone. It’s quick, easy to do, and it’s important to the safety of our neighborhoods.
As you may remember, I talked about the number of car break in’s in the Ward and Akron over the summer. We need adequate lighting in our neighborhoods to help prevent crime in general, but if the Service Department doesn’t know these lights are out, we can’t fix them. Be the squeaky wheel here, and when you see a light out, report it. Make sure you note the closest street address so we can check it out during the day.
Here a few ways to so;
- Download the 311 app to your cell phone( works great for pot holes, water leaks, etc.)
- Call 311 ( or 330-375-2311) and report it to one of our 322 representatives
- Visit https://www.akronohio.gov/311 and report online.
- Lastly call or email me with the location
