As many of you know there’s legislation in front of City Council for a dual use marijuana dispensary at the corner of W. Market St. and Frank Boulevard. I brought this up at our June ward meeting, and we discussed the process of Planning Department’s recommendation, planning commission and Council’s role with Councilman at Large and Planning Committee Chair, Jeff Fusco.

This is the first dispensary proposed for Ward 8, since marijuana sales became legal in Ohio. These dispensaries are all licensed and highly monitored by the state of Ohio and are not the sketchy bodegas that many people think they might be. We had a pretty robust discussion and will continue to do so at Wednesday’s  Ward meeting. Representatives from Tango Ventures will be on hand to answer your questions and explain their proposal.

City Council passed legislation in 2024 regulating dispensaries and that they shall not be located within 500 feet of a school, church, public park, public playground  or public library. They must also be in a retail or commercial zoned district and cannot be within 1 mile radius of another dispensary. This location complies with all of these requirements, but every dispensary needs approval by City Council  before they can open for business. I’m not necessarily for or against this as I represent the citizens of Ward 8 and want to hear from you.  I hope you’ll join us Wednesday evening 7/26 at 6:00 pm to learn more. Feel free to reach out via phone or email if you can’t make the meeting.
