Continuing with Keep Akron Beautiful’s Clean Up Akron Month, Preserve the Valley is hosting their 6th Annual lean Up the Valley Day  this Saturday April 18th.  While we don’t have a specific Ward 8 Clean up, most  of the Merriman Valley is in Ward 8, so here's your chance to help out.  Ward  6 Councilman Brad McKitrick and I chipped in with about 60 others last year and spent about 3 hours picking up trash along Merriman, Akron Peninsula and Smith Roads.  The mounds of trash we picked up really made a difference and I appreciate Preserve the Valley’s commitment for these clean ups and all they do for the Merriman Valley and Akron.

If you’re not familiar with Preserve the Valley ( Gateway Community Partnership, their mission is to foster cultural, commercial and recreational facilities, activities, and amenities that support ecological sustainability and protect the area’s natural resources for the benefit of residents and to enhance the experience of visitors to the Cuyahoga  Valley and National  Park.

If you’d like to help with this year’s cleanup, Come out this Saturday 4/18, to Blimp City  Bike & Hike, 1675 Merriman Rd 8:30-11:00am.  Here’s a link to Preserve the Valley’s website to learn more and to sign up in advance to help.
