July and Summer seem to be flying by, must be due to all that has been and is yet to come this summer in Akron. Let’s start out on a positive note, with Akron being named an All-American City for the fourth time since 1981!

A contingent of 63 civic leaders and City of Akron personnel brought back the award from the National  League of Cities competition in Denver. They told the story of Akron’s community driven efforts, our parks and trails, environmental stability, infrastructure projects like the all new Lock 3 Park and more.  Congratulations to all  who helped win this award.

And how about that Bicentennial Parade downtown on July 5th!  I was proud to walk with other members of City Council  along with over 120 other groups to celebrate the 4th of July and Akron. The parade route was full of families and friends watching and enjoying themselves.  Thanks to Goodyear for sponsoring  and kudos to Mark Greer and his team with the Bicentennial Commission.

I hope you find to enjoy many of the summer activities Akro has to offer. Catch a Friday night concert the new Lock 3, hike or bike the Towpath, stop by the Hardesty Park Art Fest eh no of July or  any of the festivals that make Akron special in the Summer.
