October is just a fun month; leaves are changing, weather is cooling down, Halloween decorations are popping up in yards and I can smell backyard fire pits throughout my neighborhood at night. While this is great, I’ve been inundated with serious issues in both Ward 8 and Akron since the 1st day of the month.
I need to apologize for this shortened newsletter, as many of you know, there was a non fatal shooting in the Merriman Valley at 1800 Merriman Road early Sunday morning. Mayor Malik joined me at 1:00 pm Sunday afternoon to meet with Parkway Estates’ neighbors to discuss what we knew and how we plan to keep folks safe moving forward. I feel we’ve got some good news coming this week but it’s been hectic working with the Mayor, Prosecutor and APD as the City was closed on Monday.
I also had some personal tough news Monday morning with a death in my family and have been working through details here, all leading to the abbreviated newsletter without much content. We do have our Ward meeting Wednesday 10/15, service Director Chris Ludle will talk about the proposed Sewer rate increase, the County’s Alcohol Drug & Mental Health Boaed with. Present on Issue 1 Levy on November Ballot. Of course Office Aaron Brown will be on hand with Crime Statistics, info me update on shooting in the Valley.
