The Merriman Valley Businesses need our support!
As we all remember, on Thursday August 8th, Akron was drenched with 5-6 inches of rain in just a few hours. Merriman Valley businesses took the biggest hit in Ward 8, with flooding and mud 2-6 inches thick covering parking lots and flowing indoors. Many could not open on Friday and spent the day cleaning up, and some, like the Noisy Oyster, took weeks to reopen. I was in the Valley talking with business owners on Friday morning. The good news is with the City’s help, most parking lots were cleared of mud and many businesses were open on Saturday. A huge thank you to the Mayor’s office and our Public Service Department's for their quick response.
Now these locally owned small business need our help! Let’s all make a trip (or trips) to shop, eat, play and enjoy all the Valley has to offer in September!
